Worcester Royals
The Worcester Royals travelled to play the Leicester Longhorns in a game that was dominated by both sides strong defences. Although the 33-7 score line does not show it, the Royals made a very competitive game of this. The first quarter ended with the score line nil nil, as both offensive units struggled to make any headway.
In the second quarter, the game continued in this manner, until two late break away runs lead to the Longhorns going into the break two touchdowns up. The Royals heads seemed to go down, but the coaching staff rallied the team, and Worcester came out in the second half in a determined mood.
The determination paid off, as the royals were the first to score in the third quarter, with an excellent pass from Mike Burnage and an even better catch from Chris Mortimer. This is the third time in four games that this combination has occurred for the Royals.
Some defensive errors, after a hard fought game led to the Longhorns scoring touchdowns, but even the Leicester coaching staff admitted that the score line flattered their team.
